Presenter: Tanya Bell-Jenje

In clinical practice we are often faced with patients presenting with elbow pain. What on first glance is a simple joint to assess & treat, often rears its obstinate head with multiple complexing presentations, histories of persistent pain & often hyperalgesia with associated contributing factors from other neural, vascular & musculo-skeletal structures. Certainly, an efficient, clearly clinically reasoned assessment is the cornerstone of making the correct diagnosis & structuring the optimal management plan for best outcomes.

In this live recording of the webinar, I discuss & / or demonstrate the following:

  • Best practice history taking with key questions pertinent to the elbow
  • The importance of the PRTEE questionnaire
  • Detailed objective testing, bearing in mind that all tests should ‘make sense’ & that often ‘less is more’
  • Lots of elbow-specific tips & tricks

An elbow-specific assessment form will be available for you to download & use to assess patients presenting to your clinics with elbow pain.

Complexity of the elbow

I really enjoyed the refresher of joint arthrokinematics. Reminders of how to test individual muscle. Great surface anatomy update as well as differential diagnosis of golfers or tennis elbow. Thank you Bron and Tanya.
