The Elbow is rarely taught at undergraduate level, and yet is a frequent source of the presenting patients’ pain, disability & frustration. Many different pathologies fall under the umbrella of ‘Lateral elbow pain’ & these need to be differentiated out for proper management and advice. Structures proximal, such as the shoulder, thorax or cervical spine can refer to the lateral elbow. Also, hyperalgesia & other centrally mediated presentations can have a significant impact.
