The Cervical spine: An update on motor control, segmental control & function
A cross-sectional study suggested that only 6% of individuals who suffered from neck pain in the previous year were free of recurrence. This talk investigates possible causes, focusing on the importance of the neutral zone & control of the neutral position of the cervical spine. Biomechanics of the cranio-vertebral region and the consequences of curve reversal are discussed, as are the links between cervical, shoulder & scapular dysfunction. Exercises to improve timing & motor control of deep segmental muscles, progressing into functional eccentric training are described.
