Helene is a physiotherapist with over four decades of clinical experience and a long-standing passion for sports injuries, particularly the ankle-foot complex. After qualifying at UFS in 1984 and completing a BSc Med Hons (Sports Science) at UCT, she became deeply involved in the UCT Sports Injuries Centre, where she later became owner in 1991.
Through years of clinical practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with international experts, Helene developed a recognised expertise in ankle rehabilitation. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, she shifted her full focus to ankle-foot research and education, contributing to international guidelines and speaking at global ankle symposiums. She is a member of organisations including SAFSA and ICCRA.
