In this presentation Lindsay takes the time to explain why this topic should attract our attention. The epidemiology of Lateral Ankle Sprains is fascinating. It accounts for 85% of all sports related injuries. The irony is that only 50% of these injuries seek medical attention, and yet 70% lead to Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI). 30% of these patients have pain for up to a year. The terminology of laxity and instability is explained. She educates us on how to assess CAI. Understanding which deficits these patients are likely to have, how to assess these deficits – whilst understanding the biomechanics of the ankle dorsiflexion deficit which we struggle to improve. The management of LAS and CAI is explained by addressing each of these deficits
