Course Outline
With the rates of spinal surgery increasing, physiotherapists need to be familiar with what surgery entails, as well as the indications – some of which are less specific than others. When is it acceptable to say that a patient has failed conservative management? Is chronic severe pain a definitive indication? In Part 1, we also consider what needs to be assessed subjectively and objectively before surgery. Important information that needs to be provided pre- and post-op, with hardware considerations is discussed.
